Welcome to Obol Contributions, now available to Dappnode users

Welcome to Obol Contributions, now available to Dappnode users

Dappnode and the Obol Collective are bringing the node operator community together to strengthen Ethereum's consensus layer.

As you know Dappnode is the easiest way to run an Ethereum node without technical barriers, and with the Obol package it is just as easy for node runners to start a distributed validator cluster. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our shared mission of bringing the node operator community together to strengthen Ethereum's consensus layer, fostering a more decentralized and secure network.

Introducing Obol Contributions

Today marks the launch of the Obol Contributions Program, an opportunity for EVERY staker to get recognition for scaling and decentralizing Ethereum by staking on Obol distributed validators (DVs). Stake deployed on Obol DVs contributes 1% of staking rewards into the Obol Collective’s retroactive funding mechanism (RAF) focused on scaling Ethereum infrastructure. Those Contributions are tracked on Obol’s DV Launchpad and will serve as the basis for future community governance and ownership of the Obol Collective.

Why Obol Contributions Matter

Obol Contributions, for the first time, allow all stakers to meaningfully take part in the Obol Collective’s mission — to scale Ethereum by securing and decentralizing the consensus layer. To strengthen and scale the Ethereum network, DVs are being adopted by staking protocols, products, node operators, and home stakers. All stake deployed on Obol DVs contributes 1% of daily staking rewards to the Obol Collective’s “1% for Decentralisation” retroactive funding program (RAF), creating a sustainable source of funding for projects which strengthen and decentralize Ethereum.

Benefits for Stakers

Obol Contributions allow stakers to earn access to future governance and ownership in the Obol Collective.

  • Community Ownership: The program is a first step toward decentralizing future ownership and governance of the Obol Collective, laying the foundation for collective decision-making around the Obol RAF.
  • Recognition: Node operators participating in distributed clusters are acknowledged for their contributions to decentralizing Ethereum. By running DVs, operators can also earn  Obol Techne credentials and seek out more opportunities within the ecosystem.

How to Participate

Stakers have two main options to get involved:

  1. Squad Staking with Dappnode: Form your own DV cluster with a group of node operators of any kind. Here’s a tutorial.
  2. Stake with Launch Partners: Stake ETH through one of Obol’s launch partners such as Mellow, Chorus One, or Stakely.

Get Started

To begin your journey with Obol Contributions, visit the program’s website. This portal provides all the necessary information and resources to start a Distributed Validator cluster on Obol.

Dappnode: Proud to Be a Launch Partner

Dappnode is honored to be a launch partner for Obol Contributions. Our users now have the unique opportunity to get involved by running a DV and be part of an Obol cluster in the way only Dappnode makes it possible: with just a few clicks. As a flagship partner, we are committed to support these efforts by participating in this unique initiative.

How to Start Your Distributed Validator with Dappnode

  1. Sync your Clients: Make sure your execution and consensus clients from whatever network you want to participate in are synced and updated.
  2. Install the Obol Package: Begin the process by installing the Obol package on your Dappnode OS.
  3. Configure Your DV: Follow the instructions in Obol’s Launchpad to configure your distributed validator cluster.

Conclusion

Obol Contributions will encourage continuous participation and sustained support for Ethereum’s consensus. By bringing together the node operator community and making it easy for them to run DV clusters, we are reinforcing the consensus layer and ensuring the longevity and resilience of Ethereum.
