Are you ready to become a Shutter Keyper? As you may already know, Dappnode has long been the easiest and most reliable way to run your own nodes. Recently, Gnosis Chain became the first EVM chain to “shutterize” its mempool. In this blog post we’ll explore what this means and its exciting opportunities for home validators.
What does Shutter mean for EVMs?
Shutter is an encryption protocol designed to minimize MEV attacks in EVM mempools. By securing the mempool, Shutter not only improves the fairness of the blockchain but also incentivizes participants who help maintain this system. These participants, known as Keepers, play a critical role in running the encrypted mempool, and they are rewarded with additional income for their efforts.
Introducing Shutter Package
Dappnode has always been the community’s favorite solution for making EVM node operation accessible and secure for all kinds of users, but specially non-technical ones. Dappnode provides you with the tools and guidance to become a home operator, which is why we’re happy to introduce the Shutter Gnosis package, now available in the DAppStore.
Here’s what you can do with Shutter Package:
-
Run a Shutter Keyper Node: Participate in the encrypted mempool of Gnosis Chain and earn additional rewards for your efforts.
-
Build blocks that are MEV protected (for validators): : Register your validators to receive the decrypted transactions for building your block.
How to Become a Keyper and why Dappnode is the easiest way to become a Keyper
If you’re ready to take the next step and operate one of the nodes that generate encryption and decryption keys for Shutter’s front-running protection, the process is straightforward.
Here’s what you need to know:
System Requirements:
-
1 CPU core
-
2 GB RAM
-
50 GB disk space
-
Permanent internet connection (no residential DSL or cable connections)
-
Monitoring system to ensure consistent availability
To become a Keyper, submit a proposal in the Shutter Network’s Keyper Application category. Your application will be included in periodic votes to select the Keyper set for the protocol. Learn more here: https://shutternetwork.discourse.group/t/apply-to-become-a-keyper/509
How to register your validators to build shutterized blocks
While we wait for an easy registration flow for all validators, you can be the one of the first to create MEV-free blocks with a little command line. If you know how to run node scripts, take a look at this repo and start making shutterized blocks! https://github.com/NethermindEth/shutter-validator-registration
With Dappnode, this process is simpler than ever eliminating the technical barriers, providing all the tools, guidance, and pre-configured setups you need to operate a r node. Dappnode’s user-friendly interface and reliable hardware make it the ideal solution for both seasoned validators and newcomers looking to support decentralized ecosystems like the Gnosis Chain. Combined with low system requirements and ongoing support, Dappnode ensures that anyone can play a vital role in securing the Shutter Network.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, thank you for being an integral part of the Dappnode community.
